"My Acupuncture treatments attempt to change your thinking and feeling toward the circumstances of life and the people around you. I treat the person, not the symptoms. In doing this, the symptoms fall away."
~ Allen A. Stovall L.Ac.
Cultivating the Healer, within you.
This is a complete system of medicine which treats illness at its root, or Causative Factor. As the psychologist Carl Jung commented, "The main interest of my work is not concerned with the treatment of neuroses (symptoms) but with the approach to the numinous (divine power). But the fact is that the approach to the numinous is the real therapy and in as much as you attain to the numinous experiences, you are released from the curse of pathology." (Jung, Letters) Any physical disorder could be understood as the symbolic play of the unconscious and an expression of the subconscious. The psychotherapist Sigmund Freud praised the idea of this work and called it "the medicine of the future." That future is now.
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture offers a continuous exploration in which self-realization can take place. The purpose of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is for people to develop greater awareness of themselves as spiritual beings. When this occurs, there is a quality of life that has been described to me as "miraculous awareness."
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture looks deep into the very Cause of Illness. The symptoms of disease in truth tell us very little about the pathology that exists within. Instead of treating symptoms, I try to improve the emotional and spiritual development of the patient so that no longer does one have to find the answer to their problems through illness. When we seek to balance the spiritual and psychological aspect within us, that is where true healing begins.
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is one of the safest, most comprehensive and far-reaching systems of healing in the world. A gateway to where the actual experience of suffering occurs; the Spirit.
“For this is the greatest error of our day,
that physicians separate the soul from the body” -Plato
Five-Element Energy Psychology is a psychological system derived from the five thousand year old system of Chinese medicine and uses the Five Elements to describe the energetic differences between people. Five Element Energy Psychology offers a continuous exploration in which Self-Realization can take place. Within the Five Elements are the Five Emotions. By learning to grasp the powers of the Five Emotions and their nuances you will not only become aware of your inner energy, your inner nature, but also know how to specifically direct this energy outward, this energy that is always being expressed through your personality. Knowing your energetic characteristics and where you fit in this Energetic system is a very satisfying part of self-realization. Acupuncture is a physical therapy which heals Body, Mind and Spirit. Acupuncture is also a form of Energy Psychology that can touch the deepest levels of our psyche. The Ancient Sages of Oriental Medicine knew this long before Western forms of Psychology existed. This form of treatment still exists, as it has been passed down from teacher to student as an oral tradition for thousands of years. Western Medicine seeks to break aspects of healing down to the smallest component. Oriental Medicine has preserved this timeless mystery based in clinical science, with the supernatural, the sacred, the holy, and the transcendent Spirit as the basis of real therapy.
This Ancient Style of Acupuncture is known as
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture.
This one sentence is the foundation and basis of this profound method of treatment. It is treatment at the level of the Spirit where both suffering and true healing occur.
Spiritual Psychology is the study and practice of the art and science of human evolution in consciousness. In order to fulfill this quest, we must begin by distinguishing the essence of human evolution—what does it mean to evolve? In short, it means surrendering anything in consciousness that disturbs one’s peace. It also means sacrificing our illusions of separation. Essentially, this “surrendering” and “sacrificing” is work that can and has been called “healing,” which includes healing on the physical, mental, and emotional levels in service to the deeper revelation of who we truly are as Loving, Peaceful, Compassionate and Joyful beings. We refer to this level of awareness as the Authentic Self.
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture asserts that every human being is born with, or develops early in life, an imbalance in the natural functioning of these Five Elements. This imbalance becomes the root cause of illness of the body, mind, and spirit.
My focus is on the core imbalance, the emotional sensitivity and the thoughts and ideas that are the background of illness.
